Last week the team from B&B attended the Golden Shears 2019.\u00a0 Known as The Oscars of the tailoring world, the Golden Shears has for many years celebrated the achievements of bespoke tailoring students and apprentices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Held every two years, students and apprentices have the\nopportunity to submit an outfit to the competition.  This is something that they must have\ndesigned, selected the fabrics, cut the patterns and last but not least\nassemble and finish the garments – all by themselves.  This is no easy feat and involves months of\nhard work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The entrants are whittled down to 24 finalists who are\ninvited to exhibit at the Golden Shears Competition held at the Merchant\nTaylor\u2019s Hall in London. Three prizes are available – the Golden Shears for\nfirst place, the Silver Shears for second and a Rising Star Silver Shears for\nthird place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The winners are selected by not one but two judging panels! Firstly,\nthe technical judges made up of experienced master tailors and cutters who are\nwell respected and admired within the trade. \nSecondly, the guest judges who attend the Golden Shears Show – this year\nthe panel was made up of models David Gandy and Jodie Kidd, stylists Tom Stubbs\nand Joe Ottoway, and Mich Turner MBE of Little Venice Cake Co.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As a proud supporter of the Golden Shears we were thrilled\nto sponsor a number of the finalists this year. \nIn fact, we have been sponsoring finalists since 1977!  Our contributions of high-quality linings,\nbuttons and trim items go into completing these very special outfits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We would like to congratulate all finalists of the Golden\nShears 2019 with special mention to Rachel Singer of Maurice Sedwell Savile Row\nwho was this year\u2019s winner.  We are\nthrilled to see our horn buttons, linings, and threads used in these incredible\ngarments – a double breasted Prince of Wales checked, tailored trouser suit\nwith long, cappuccino cream wool coat and brown horn button back detail.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
